Jisung New Tank
Updated on 08-Feb-1999

Recently our member Jisung has made a new reef tank. Up to now it is almost finished. I think his setup is very nice and all the parts are well organized. I hope this report will give you some hints if you are considering to make a new tank.

It is a 480L Reef & Fish tank, overflow box is placed at the back side centre of the tank. All live rocks are supports by some PVC pipes, some of rocks are hang on the PVC pipe with cable tie.
There are six water outlets, two upper, two lower and two rain bar just behind the live rock to ensure enough water movement.
Inside the cabinet there is a big sump, all the overflow water will return to this sump and pump back to the tank by a Iwaki pump MD-70RT. Inside the sump there are a CPR SR4 Protein Skimmer and some actived carbon. Left hand side of the cabinet are mechanical water top off system, Dupla Calcium Reactor and BioPlast 1500g CO2 bottle. CO2 is used to injet into the Calcium Reactor to produces Calcium Bicarbonate. CO2 supply will be switched off when the main light is gone at night. All incoming and outgoing hose/pipe are well organized, most of the parts are bought from Hong Kong.
AB Titancooler 600 & AZOO 300W heater are using to control the temperature of the aquarium water. AZOO 300W provide an external temperature sensor to give a stable temperature enironment in Winter time.
Two DIY 150W 6500K MH lighting just cost HK$1500 per unit.
Two 27W Blue PL tube are used to enhance the blue spectrum and simulate night environment. Two low voltage computer fans are installed on both side of the tank cover to make sure the heat produced by the lighting system can be ventilated.
Tank top water outlet connection.

If you want to display your setup in Reef Club, please send photos and description to me. I will post it as soon as possible.
